Community Conversation: Weaving Justice, Identity and Sustainability

Community Conversation: Weaving Justice, Identity, and Sustainability

Climate action is not just about the environment—it’s about people, equity, and the communities we build together. Join us for a Community Conversation exploring the intersection of sustainability, identity, justice, and community. Together we’ll unpack how environmental challenges and social inequities are interconnected, and how centering justice in climate action creates pathways for collective resilience and belonging.

We are honoured to welcome Zamani Ra, an internationally recognized, award-winning professional leading an innovative environmental education and engagement organization. She is the Founder and Executive Director of CEED Canada, a registered charity amplifying environmental and climate action in Toronto’s housing communities, with a focus on underrepresented areas. CEED’s work is multi-pronged: education for community transformation, advocacy for climate equity, and influencing policy. Zamani is also co-founder of the Black Environmentalist Alliance and a member of the City of Toronto’s Climate Advisory Group. In 2022, she was the overall winner of Women4ClimateTO for her work with CEED Canada.

Zamani describes herself as a Goddess of Inspiration, Warrior of Words, Sharer of Voices, Creator of Curated Content, Builder of Communities, Paradigm Shape Shifter, and Promoter of People Power. Her passion and leadership will ground this dialogue in both local action and global vision, inspiring us all to consider how sustainability and equity can move forward hand in hand.
