We’re excited to announce the launch of the Employability Team’s Fireside & Coffee Chats Series, kicking off February 9.
This new monthly series is designed by our Industry Specialists to create meaningful, low-pressure connections between students and industry professionals. These chats offer students the opportunity to engage in honest conversations about career pathways, industry trends, and real-world experiences in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
Each Chat will feature a guest from industry and is intentionally kept small, allowing for deeper discussion, thoughtful questions, and genuine connection. Coffee Chats are smaller, while Fireside Chats will include up to 20 participants — still small enough to encourage meaningful, engaging conversation. Rather than a formal presentation, these sessions are designed to feel like a conversation, giving students the opportunity to learn directly from professionals about how they got started, what their day-to-day work looks like, and which skills matter most in today’s workforce.
To make the experience even more inviting, coffee and refreshments will be provided for in-person chats, creating a comfortable space for students to engage, network, and build confidence in casual settings.
For the Winter 2026 semester, the Industry Specialist Coffee Chats will feature the following industries and dates.
- February 9, 2026: Cybersecurity and Software
- February 27, 2026: Business and Entrepreneurship
- March 11, 2026: Business, Arts, and Media
- March 25, 2026: Business, Technology, and Human Resources
- April 1, 2026: Business, Arts, and Media (Public Relations)
The Employability Team’s Industry Specialist Coffee Chats align with Humber’s commitment to forging deeper partnerships and helping students connect classroom learning with real-world industry insight.
