Humber’s Baking and Pastry students will take guests on an inspiring culinary journey through Asia during the Kraft Heinz Pastry & Dessert Showcase: Journey to Taiwan and Japan, a live baking and dessert event celebrating international flavors, creativity, and student talent.
Taking place on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the LRC Concourse (B Area), the event will feature live demonstrations, student pastry creations, and Japanese-inspired desserts, all highlighting the craftsmanship and innovation of Humber’s next generation of culinary professionals.
The showcase is part of a larger educational initiative preparing students for a unique international learning experience in Taiwan and Japan this summer, where they will study regional baking techniques, culinary traditions, and modern pastry innovation.
Guests attending the event will have the opportunity to taste a vibrant display of student-made desserts inspired by Asian ingredients and techniques while watching two live baking demonstrations from expert chefs. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in prize giveaways during the demonstrations and engage with students showcasing their pastry creations.
“This event celebrates the creativity, dedication, and global curiosity of our baking and pastry students,” said event organizer Kenneth Ku. “Through experiences like this—and their upcoming trip to Taiwan and Japan—students are able to explore new culinary cultures while developing the skills that will shape their future careers.”

Chef Luciana will demonstrate how traditional sourdough fermentation techniques can be combined with bold Japanese ingredients to create modern artisanal baked goods.

Chef Sarah’s demonstration will showcase the delicate balance of flavors and presentation often found in contemporary Japanese café desserts.
