Carl Oliver, Director, School of Continuing & Professional Development

I am pleased to announce Carl Oliver as the successful candidate for the Director, School of Continuing & Professional Development in the School of Applied Technology.

Carl has worked at Humber ITAL for twelve years as a Professor in the School of Applied Technology, teaching in several programs including Wireless, Computer Engineering and Networking. During his time at Humber, he has been Program Coordinator, Chair of the Humber Showcase Planning Committee, and Secondee in the Centre for Teaching and Learning.

Carl served for several years on the Student Success and Engagement coordinating committee and has recently built and facilitated Communities of Practice across the School of Applied Technology. He is passionate about teaching and the use of innovative technologies in the classroom. Carl’s most recent labour of love has been working with multitalented colleagues across the college to create and pilot the Humber “Lightboard,” an innovative, multi-media teaching tool (enabling the flipped classroom to come to life) that is the first of its kind in Canada.

Carl holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics and Philosophy) from the University of Toronto, a Postgraduate Certificate in Wireless Telecommunications from Humber, and a Master of Arts in Education from Central Michigan University.
