Workplace stress can be triggered from many sources, including feeling that there is too much to do with not enough time, dealing with a difficult co-worker. When combined with pressures and responsibilities outside of work, it is no wonder that people experience high levels of stress both at work and at home. Some stressful events are commonly experienced across a large group; others are unique to individuals.

- Define stress and the fight/flight response
