“From Clutter to Culture: Why We Love to Collect”

How many of us collect things? Why do so many of us do this? Museums and art galleries are the places where communities and nations assemble collections to preserve, study and display the past. Why go to all this trouble?

This lecture explores the near-universal desire to acquire things and what these "very slow time machines" tell us about ourselves, our national identities and our hopes for the future.

A brand new speaker series, presented in partnership between Lakeshore Arts and Humber College. Join us every Monday from 12 noon to 1 p.m., February through to April, bring your lunch and join others from the community to learn something new. This speaker series isn't
about what you do, it's about who you are and what fuels you! Spark Plugs is designed to engage conversation with your neighbours through shared knowledge, experiences and passion. So, come out and plug what sparks you!
