For those interested in a new career path or looking for a change of employer, Humber’s Trucking Career Day is the place to be. According to a 2013 report from the Conference Board of Canada, the trucking transport industry is expected to face a shortage of drivers, so now may be the best time to explore a career as a Professional Commercial Driver.

Humber College is inviting students and the general public to join us for our largest ever Trucking Career Day at the Humber Transportation Training Centre.

Twenty leading transportation industry employers will be on hand to discuss new employment opportunities and the qualifications needed for a rewarding career. Meet representatives from Schneider National, Canada Post, Gordon Food Service, Kriska, Iron Mountain, GFL Environmental, and many more.

Participants will also have the opportunity to experience what it feels like to sit behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle, and interact with Humber driving instructors.

“The current high demand for commercial drivers has had a positive effect in increasing wages and benefits,” said Rick Mikula, program liaison officer at Humber. “Many employers have introduced signing bonuses, tuition reimbursement programs and other incentives as a way of attracting drivers. Humber graduates are in demand. Many of our graduates are employed within weeks of completing the program and can earn a starting wage of anywhere from $45,000 to $55,000 a year.”
