Humber is partnering with a small NGO in Guatemala that works with a Mayan community to meet its development needs.
Come learn about more about potential ways Humber faculty and students can get involved.
A community needs assessment and initial meetings revealed possible opportunities for faculty and students to work with the NGO and the community in developing their capacity in the following areas:
- Nutrition and Healthy Eating
- Environmental Awareness (Garbage Collection/Recycling/Composting)
- Water Access/ Collection/ Conservation
- Sustainable and Renewable Energy
- Personal hygiene and sanitation
- Female and Maternal Health
- Early Childhood Education
- Financial Literacy, Livelihood (entrepreneurial skills)
- Farming/Horticulture
- Skills-based training (sewing and carpentry)
- Tourism/Marketing Opportunities
- Communications: website development, video, social media strategy, promotion of success stories
- Fundraising for project(s)
- Project design, planning and implementation of community development projects
- Proposal/Grant Writing
