Double Happiness

Double Happiness is a film about an aspiring actress named Jade (Sandra Oh), who is a young second-generation Chinese-Canadian. Struggling between the strict old-world values and expectations of her parents, who don�۪t see acting as a viable career, and both the limitations and stereotypes of Canadian society, Jade must learn to negotiate the divergent expectations of her community and her culture. A film about what it means to grow up with a hybrid identity, it speaks to the quintessential meaning of Canada.
