Letter from the President Regarding the Faculty Strike

To all Humber staff,

As you know, full-time and partial load Ontario college faculty are now on strike, including those that teach at Humber and the University of Guelph-Humber. As a result, we have made the decision to suspend all full-time, continuing education, online and corporate training classes at Humber and Guelph-Humber.

Today, I sent a letter to all of our students. I wanted to ensure they knew that Humber’s top priority is their success and that we are committed to supporting our students. This is a challenging situation for all of us. Our faculty are a valued and vital part of the Humber community and the Ontario college system. We are not only concerned about the impact this strike will have on our students, but also on our colleagues and our community.

It’s important that we continue with our work and focus on putting in place the plans we’ll need to be able to welcome faculty and students back to the classroom as quickly as possible once the strike is over.

The Humber community is respectful, inclusive and collaborative. I’m confident that each one of us will continue to demonstrate these values throughout the duration of the strike and work together to ensure services and operations continue in a safe campus environment.

Sincerely,

Chris Whitaker
President, CEO Humber I.T.A.L.
