Dr. Darren Lawless, Dean, Applied Research and Innovation

Appointment Announcement

It is my great pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Darren Lawless as Humber’s incoming Dean of Applied Research and Innovation.  Darren comes to Humber from the position of Dean of Research and Innovation at Sheridan College. 

Darren brings to Humber a wealth of experience in the fields of research and development.  He holds a number of Canadian and US patents and has published in numerous refereed journals, peer reviewed publications and conference proceedings.  His career in research spans over 20 years and includes time as a front line researcher, manager, director and dean.  He holds a BSc and a PhD in Chemistry from Concordia University in Montreal, and a Post-doctoral Fellow from Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago, Illinois.  Over the span of his career Darren has also been a volunteer member of numerous provincial and national research boards and organizations, including his current roles as member of the Advisory Board for the Innovation Council of the Conference Board of Canada, member of the Heads of Applied Research of Ontario, and invited NSERC and OCE project reviewer.

Please join me in welcoming Darren to the Humber team.  He will take on this new role effective December 7th, 2015.
