2016-17 Business Plan and Financial Budget approved by Humber’s Board of Governors

Colleagues, I am pleased to announce that the Humber Board of Governors has approved the 2016-17 Business Plan and Budget, which were developed through an integrated process supported by the Executive Advisory Council, the Academic and Administrative Leaders Forum, the Integrated Risk Management Committee, Humber College Council and the executive team. The budget assumes a 1.9 per cent increase in full-time enrolment during the 2016-17 fiscal year. To achieve this goal, we will introduce five new programs across a range of credentials, enhance our student support and retention efforts, and add 35 full-time positions along with numerous part-time staff to deliver academic programs and other services for students. The initiatives outlined in the business plan support our commitments to students, and strengthen our focus on teaching and learning excellence. These include continued development of the Centres of Innovation and implementation of action plans aimed at enrolment planning, recruitment, retention, and credit transfer. In the area of teaching and learning, we will focus on strategies to develop more flexible learning and applied research, as well as expanding our academic integrity initiatives. We will continue to build our partnerships with alumni, the community and government while strengthening our Program Advisory Committees and finalizing our corporate training strategy. The 2016-17 Budget will invest more than $390M in core operational and ancillary business areas as well as projects that are directly related to the objectives outlined in the strategic plan. This excellent work is possible only because of the dedicated, creative and caring faculty and staff at Humber, who unfailingly ensure that students remain our top priority. Thank you!

President, CEO Humber I.T.A.L.
