Heather Black is the director human resources and faculty relations within the office of the senior vice-president, academic.  She worked in the University sector for 15 years prior to joining Humber having held leadership roles both in Human Resources and Labour Relations. Heather joined Humber in January 2018 and was appointed director, HR client services in September 2018. In September 2022, she assumed the role of director, HR and faculty relations within the academic division.

Throughout her career Heather has been recognized for her fair and empathetic approach, creative solutions and forward looking focus. She participates on the college provincial Employee Employer Relations Committee and has been on numerous bargaining teams. She has led a broad range of human resources initiatives during her career such as large organizational planning projects and developing leadership programs to advance equity, succession planning and development goals.

Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), University of Waterloo, and a Human Resources Post Graduate Diploma, Seneca College. Interests outside of her career in higher education have resulted in Heather coordinating and leading wine education programs in wine regions internationally.
