Intersectional Nature of Identities

  • Remember that identities are intersectional. They interact in complex ways and cannot be understood as separate entities. It’s important not to make assumptions about a person’s identity or reduce an individual to a social identity that is visible.

  • Inclusive educators assume all identities are in the classroom and plan instruction to ensure that students from equity-deserving groups feel included and experience a sense of belonging.
