tips for success

Be prepared for your presentation

  • Gather all the information you need for your presentation. This includes:
    • Reading your syllabus/ presentation guidelines thoroughly, note the length of time for presentation
    • Do the research you need to do for the presentation
    • Create an outline for your presentation: 
      • Introduce yourself and topic
      • Body- content 
      • Conclusion- simple review of important information
  • Aim for 1-2 minutes talking per slide
  • Include images and diagrams, try to include short texts instead of long paragraphs 
  • Use high contrasting colours and easy to read fonts (Arial or Calibri, size 16 font minimum) 
  • Practice! Practice! Practice!

Avoid technical difficulties:

  • Bring your adaptor for your laptop 
  • Bring a copy on an usb
  • Don’t rely on the internet to access your presentation
  • Save a copy as a pdf (more compatible with different devices)
