Changes to the Humber Research Ethics Board Membership

The Humber Research Ethics Board (HREB) reviews all research involving human participants that takes place within the Humber community. The HREB’s responsibility is to ensure that all research involving human participants aligns with the standards set by the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS): Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans.

In an April 2018 Humber Communiqué announcement, the HREB placed a call for expressions of interest for new board members and received an overwhelming response. To ensure the HREB equitably represented the Humber community, new members have been selected based on their expertise in a variety of areas.

We are pleased to announce the following new board members:

Dr. Mojgan Rezvani, Faculty – School of Health Sciences
Dr. Jennifer Bazar, Curator, Office of the Principal
Mr. Audel Cunningham, Faculty – The Business School
Dr. Jeffrey Semple, Faculty – School of Health Sciences
Ms. Rita Kohli, External Community Member

New REB Chair appointment:

On behalf of President Chris Whitaker, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Lydia Boyko as the Chair of the Humber REB.

Lydia Boyko is a faculty member in Humber’s School of Media Studies & Information Technology and serves on the Executive Committee of Humber College Council. Dr. Boyko joined Humber full time in 2011 after more than 20 years of business experience in the private sector, with a focus on government and investor relations in the financial services sector, and several years as a partial-load business professor at the postsecondary level. Lydia has been an HREB member since 2014.

Lydia will bring leadership, expertise, and guidance to the HREB when she assumes the role of HREB Chair, effective September 29, 2018. Please join us in congratulating Lydia on her appointment.
