Dr. Doug Thomson Wins John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award

The Centre for Teaching and Learning is pleased to congratulate Dr. Doug Thomson as Humber’s 2018 winner of the John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award.  Doug is a creative and passionate educator in the School of Social and Community Services.  Doug takes an ‘out-of-the-box’’ approach to teaching, learning and student support, creatively collaborating across schools. He challenges his students to push their scholarly potential to the limit, spending time outside of class helping students prepare for significant learning experiences, and has developed applied projects that incorporate inter-disciplinary subject matter experts.  As a researcher, Doug is involved in both the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and Applied Research, with a TIF-funded project examining student connectedness using a cultural cookbook assignment, and a SSHRC-funded project on Neighbourhood Policing Evaluation. He is a true 21st Century educator! Doug will be celebrated at the League for Innovation Conference in February 2019.

Please join the Humber community in congratulating Doug.
