The International Centre is pleased to announce the launch of Humber’s innovative new Global Citizenship Certificate (GCC) program.
At Humber we are committed to creating a global-ready community of students through the provision of diverse perspectives and opportunities that support development of the broad range of skills, values and competencies sought by society and employers to be successful in today's global knowledge economy. The goals and values are supported by Humber’s current 2013-2018 Strategic Plan and comprehensive Internationalization Strategy.
The GCC prepares students for engaged living in our culturally diverse and rapidly changing world. Through a combination of online courses, travel experiences and extra-curricular activities, students will gain a highly valued global perspective, deepen their understanding of human diversity, interconnectedness, and cultural complexity and enhance your sense of personal and community responsibility.
The Global Citizenship Certificate is a cross-college, multi-disciplinary program designed to accommodate currently enrolled students from all Academic Schools and programs. Envisioned as a "global backpack" or a set of courses and experiences that students can fit into their current studies, the program requires students to examine the questions of meaning and value associated with the theme of citizenship within today's global world.
Once the program requirements are successfully completed, students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion in Global Citizenship. Students will exit with an e-portfolio documenting their global skills, knowledge and experiences to share with potential employers and/or their community of professional interest.
There are currently no fees to enroll in each of the GCC online courses, and generous bursary assistance is available to support eligible student travel experiences!

“We live in an increasingly interdependent world, where the actions of ordinary citizens are likely to have an impact on others’ lives across the globe. It is important to be informed about the world in which we live and provided with the skills to enable us to be active citizens and to understand how we can shape our own futures and make a difference. Education for living together in an interdependent world is not an optional extra, but an essential foundation.” ~ Audrey Osler
