Office of Student Community Standards

As we approach the beginning of a new academic year, we are excited to share some important changes within the Student Wellness and Equitable Learning area.

Over the last year, the Office of Student Conduct has undertaken a comprehensive review of the Code of Student Conduct to align with the College’s commitments to EDI, anti-oppressive practice, and developmental administrative policies. The result is a newly re-branded Code of Student Community Standards. The Code has been updated to reflect enhanced harm reduction and restorative justice principles to further emphasize College and community orientations to citizenship. The Code and Office have been rebranded to align with these changes and to communicate the values and intention of the policy, procedures, and team in fostering conditions for community wellbeing and care.

The Office of Student Community Standards will continue with our mandate of promoting the rights, well-being, and safety of community members at Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber. The renewed identity reflects the work of our team and symbolizes the priorities of Student Wellness and Equitable Learning, our priorities as an institution, and connects to Humber Tomorrow.

Our Student Community Standards Advisors, formerly Student Conduct Coordinators, will continue to support students, staff, and faculty in a consistent manner to resolve concerns about non-academic student behaviour, using formal or informal resolution pathways. Any member of the Humber or Guelph-Humber community (student, staff, or faculty) can contact the Office of Student Community Standards to consult about a matter and without lodging a formal complaint. Our office may be contacted by email at OSCS@humber.ca or phone 416.675.6622 x4357. These changes will be reflected on our website, humber.ca/knowthecode in the coming weeks.

We are excited about this change, and wish to thank all those who consulted and contributed to the new identity of our office and the revised Code.
