Release of Windows 10

As you have likely already heard, Microsoft plans to release Windows 10, a new version of its popular operating system, later this summer.

Information Technology will be carefully evaluating Windows 10 this fall. Windows 10 is expected to be very different; it has reportedly been redesigned for use in computers, smartphones, tablets, and gaming consoles.

Humber’s future use of Windows 10 is expected to be an Academic & Educational Technology Committee agenda item next term. In the meantime, all computers in academic spaces will continue to run Windows 7.

Adopting new technology is not without risk. Caution is advised when considering Windows 10 for home use. Although initially available at no cost, users may want to defer Windows 10 until it proves stable and reliable.
