Retirement: Nancey Adamson

After 24 years of outstanding service and dedication to Humber, Nancey Adamson has decided to retire as of August 31, 2021.

In 1997, Nancey joined Humber as the Business Manager in the Office of the Vice President, Business Development. In 2003, she joined the HR team where she held several roles, including Manager, Training and Development; Manager, Employee Engagement; and HR Consultant. In those roles, Nancey developed, implemented, and facilitated many training and engagement programs for staff. She also provided leadership for many of Humber’s recognition programs including the President’s Awards; Career Milestone Awards; Retiree’s Dinner; Support Staff Appreciation Week; and wellness programs. She has also been a guest lecturer, facilitating the Clifton Strengths program for students in the Faculty of Business and Faculty of Health Sciences.

Most recently, Nancey has worked with the Education and Training Solutions team as the HR Manager helping build the HR processes supporting the launch of Humber’s Real Estate Education program. During the pandemic, she played an integral role in the transition of curriculum to the virtual environment for Humber’s Corporate Training Solutions (CTS) department and the Transportation Training Centre. Nancey developed and delivered the very successful "Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT)" micro-credential to over 60 senior facilitators and faculty. She also designed the “Producer Course” and has trained 20+ producers to support all CTS virtual courses. Nancey has supported all proposed CTS micro-credentials to ensure quality, consistency, and validated learning and has reviewed over 100 courses for several large organizations.

Nancey has been an active member of the Humber community both internally and externally. Over the years she has been a member of many committees including the President’s Breakfast Planning Committee; Showcase; Residence Appeal Committee; Advancement – Friends and Family Campaign Committee; e-learning Committee; and job evaluation committees. Most notably, Nancey was instrumental in the transformation of Academic Council to Humber College Council. She has served as a member, Vice Chair, Chair and Past Chair over the past 12 years. Nancey also led Humber’s Employee Engagement Committee and five United Way Campaigns. Externally, Nancey has been a member of HRCC, CAAT College Consortium and HRPA committees.

Nancey is a proud graduate of Humber College (Legal Secretarial Diploma and Human Resources Postgraduate Certificate). She has been a dedicated life-long learner throughout her career at Humber completing her Bachelor of Education, Adult Education from Brock University, Master of Arts, Community College from Central Michigan University and PhD in Higher Education from the University of Toronto (OISE) in 2014.

For her dedication and contribution to the college, she was recognized with the Distinguished Administrator Award in 2005.

On behalf of the Education & Training Solutions, Continuous Professional Learning, and the Humber community, I would like to express our sincere thanks to Nancey for her service and many contributions to Humber and wish her all the best in her retirement.

Please share your warm wishes for Nancey by signing the virtual e-card. A departmental farewell will be planned for later in the summer.
