Workplace Sustainability Assessment Initiative

October 31, 2016

The Office of Sustainability is pleased to announce the release of the Workplace Sustainability Assessment, an initiative designed to enable workplaces across the college to evaluate their sustainability practices across key areas:

  • Waste
  • Energy
  • Transportation
  • Purchasing
  • Engagement

This initiative — a collaboration between the Humber Community Engagement in Sustainability Committee, the Office of the Vice-President for Student and Community Engagement and the Office of Sustainability — is aimed at capturing sustainable practices of both the department as a whole and on an individual basis.

The results of the assessment will be used to determine the level of certification for your workplace: Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum.

This assessment is part of a long line of initiatives dedicated to fostering and maintaining sustainable practices across the College. Humber’s success in its commitment to a sustainable campus has resulted in:

  • Selected as one of Canada’s Greenest Employer 2016
  • Received Smart Commute Workplace Gold 2016, 2015
  • A LEED Gold designation for the Learning Resources Commons

This year the college has also recertified its STARS Silver designation and continues to work towards achieving STARS Gold in 2019.
