DO YOU HAVE A VISION AND SOME GREAT IDEAS TO SHARE ABOUT THE PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE OF THE COLLEGE?

GIVE VOICE TO YOUR THOUGHTS - JOIN COLLEGE COUNCIL

Role of College Council

College Council is the collective voice of the College in that it is an assembly of faculty, support staff, students, and administrators who suggest directions in which the College should proceed. College Council advises the President on those College issues which it considers to be long and short-term priorities as identified in Humber’s Strategic Plan.

As of 2013, Humber’s Strategic priorities follow three themes:

  1. Strengthening our Polytechnic Identity
  2. Sustained Focus on Teaching and Learning Excellence
  3. Maximizing the impact of Partnerships

The Council advises the President of the College in matters affecting academic policy, planning, and practice, including, the successful implementation of Humber’s Strategic Plan initiatives.

While it is recognized that the Board of Governors alone can make policy, the Council makes recommendations that may ultimately become policy. If the recommendations the Council makes are not accepted by the President of the College, he or she will be expected to explain his or her reasons. College policy or business items ultimately proceeding to the College's Board of Governors may appear at College Council at the discretion of the President before final disposition at the Board of Governors

The Enterprise Systems Project has arrived at an exciting time in the Banner implementation - training the wider audience of end users!

As you may know, the release of modules will occur as we move through 2014 offering people more accessibility to the new applications. The ESP team is introducing the training programs that will help each of you learn the new processes and functionality that accompanies these new applications.

Training is being rolled out employing the “train the trainer” methodology.  A select group of people, acting as Leads or Champions on the applications, are trained first. Then the Leads and Champions train their colleagues. The train the trainer methodology is an efficient way to spread new knowledge, put training into a Humber context and improve the adoption of the new system. During the last few months, Leads and Champions participated in testing the new applications, received in-depth training and understand the processes surrounding the new functionality.

To date, the following areas have completed training or are in the process of training:

  • Financial Aid
  • Schedulers
  • PC Champions
  • SWF
  • Accounts Receivable

Starting in April the Office of the Registrar began their comprehensive training program. The schools and service areas will start their training programs in May.

Please be sure to visit www.humber.ca/esp/documentation-training for user guides, job aid and other learning resources. Visit www.humber.ca/esp/class-training-schedule for an up to date schedule of all in-class training.

Student elearning units will be launched throughout the year. You can find these elearning units at www.humber.ca/myhumber.
