Pianist/composer Andy Milne draws inspiration from various forms of music, politics, philosophy, comedy and science fiction.
Some of his musical influences include Thelonious Monk, Art Tatum, Herbie Nichols, Bela Bartok, Joni Mitchell and Stevie Wonder.
Considered one of the most important and respected voices in jazz today, Milne is the recipient of numerous awards and commissions.

Cancer is more than an individual disease. It affects everyone—from families and loved ones to coworkers and institutional supports. An advanced disease is a special circumstance in which one’s life is threatened, producing a confrontation with mortality that raises many questions about the meaning and value of one’s life.
Please join us on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 from 11:10am – 1:10pm for Dr. Lo’s lecture: “The Meaning of Life and the Confrontation with Death.” In his presentation, he will also highlight suggestions of how to support individuals and their friends and families who may be dealing with a diagnosis of advanced disease.
Note: This lecture will contain content around the subject of death and dying, which may be disturbing to some audiences.
A light lunch will be served.

For any learning environment, it’s important to enact measures to reduce the instances of challenging behaviours that may interfere with creating a positive learning environment. SWAC's Health Centre and Counselling Services, are gearing up to participate in an exciting new public awareness campaign.
The Red Flag Campaign addresses dating violence on campus, and will appear on our campus beginning February 14, 2017. We will have activities related to this event between 11 a.m.-1 p,m. at the North Campus, E Concourse and the Lakeshore A170 (blue room) at the same time.
Designed with a “bystander intervention” strategy, the campaign encourages friends and other campus community members to “say something” when they see warning signs (“red flags”) for dating violence in a friend’s relationship.
