On February 3 and 4 at 7 p.m., the Comedy Writing and Performance program showcases pithy plays with a comedic punch. Directed by Shawn Campbell, the annual 10 Minute Play Festival features original works written and performed by the second-year Comedy students.

No, there really are no cockroaches in chocolate ice cream. But one listener of Montreal radio’s “The Dr. Joe Show” did jump to this conclusion after misinterpreting what had been said about a certain food colourant. Being on one end of a microphone and in front of television cameras for over 35 years has provided Dr. Joe Schwarcz an opportunity to separate sense from nonsense in areas ranging from nutrition and medications to cosmetics and pesticides. In this lecture, Dr. Schwarcz will emphasize the importance of fostering critical thinking in relation to the public’s perception of science.
