Please join us on Wednesday February 4th 2015 at 6:30pm in B202 where one of Humber's distinguished alumni Andy Kikites will be speaking about his journey to success. 

Andy Kikites, M.Eng., P.Eng. - Personal Bio
Andy is a nationally recognized expert in the field of bridge engineering, and is currently an Associate Vice President at HDR, responsible for leadership and oversight of the Canadian operations, and serves as the Bridge Engineering Practice Leader for Canada. 

Throughout his professional career Andy has worked with noted planners, architects and interior designers, and has been a key member of international design teams for some of the largest projects in the world, including:

  • Palm Island, Dubai ($1.5B)
  • Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi ($3B)
  • Mazagan Resort Development, Morocco ($1B)
  • Tappan Zee Bridge, New York ($3.6B)
  • Bayonne Bridge, New York ($1.2B)
  • Eglinton Cross-Town LRT, Toronto ($8B)

Andy’s projects have included the use of innovative new structural systems resulting in noted industry awards such as the OPWA Project of the Year Award (twice) and the Heritage Canada Foundation National Achievement Award. His expertise in bridge engineering is recognized by the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario, having developed and designed new structural systems for them; he is also considered a Bridge Engineering Subject Matter Expert by MTO and has been selected to study the replacement of their largest and most expensive assets. 

Andy is a graduate of the Civil Engineering Technology program at Humber College. Following his graduation from Humber Andy continued his studies in Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto earning a Bachelor degree and a Master degree in structural engineering with a specialization in bridges, having studied under one of the top bridge engineers in North America. Andy has helped advance the engineering industry through innovation, and has authored various research papers dealing with innovative materials, structural systems, and rehabilitation and preservation techniques related to bridges.

Andy is a lecturer at, and has developed courses for the Civil Engineering department at, the Humber Institute of Technology, McMaster University, University of Toronto, and Ryerson University, and is an instructor for bridge/structural related courses to the public sector and the Canadian Military. He is a member of the Structural Engineering Assessments Subcommittee at PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario), is a Board Member of various committees at the University of Toronto, and serves as Chair of the Civil Engineering Technology Advisory Committee at the Humber Institute of Technology.
