Tired of marking that assignment you have given for two semesters in a row?
Discouraged by the lack of time and energy your students are putting into their work? Sometimes all you need is a new approach and some colleagues to help inspire you.

In this workshop we rethink our approach to evaluation in a hands-on fashion. Starting from the premise that testing does not necessarily mean tests and that assignments should extend knowledge not just involve its repetition, we consider how to design and develop engaging evaluation procedures. Bring an assignment you would like to revamp to this session, as we workshop new ways of approaching evaluation.

Dr. Kwame McKenzie is a psychiatrist at CAMH, a professor at the University of Toronto, a policy advisor, and the author of Society and Psychosis and Social Capital and Mental Health

"It is often said that there is no health without mental health.  It may also be said that there is no wealth without mental health.  Indeed, mental capital i.e., cognitive intelligence, emotional intelligence, etc. -- is of vital importance for economic development.  But public health interventions that aim to change individual exposure to risk factors or to build environments that promote resilience may inadvertently neglect or even increase disparities in health and civic engagement.  In this lecture, Dr. McKenzie will discuss how changing the way interventions are chosen and designed may improve community health by increasing mental capital, encouraging active citizenship, and promoting equity."

This event is complimentary. Everyone welcome! Teachers are encouraged to bring their classes. When bringing classes to lectures, please RSVP. Please contact Melanie Chaparian.
