Yamikani Msosa, Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives Coordinator, SSE

We are pleased to welcome Yamikani Msosa in her new role of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives Coordinator in Student Success and Engagement, with a focus on the BASE (Black Academic Success and Engagement) program. Yamikani will work along side Natalie Elisha on student focused anti-oppression programming.

Yamikani has a master's degree in Women and Gender Studies from Carleton University and was recently an Education Specialist at Ryerson University's Office of Sexual Violence Support and Education. At Ryerson, she supported education and support initiatives including forming a support group for black students called R.E.S.T (Resisting, Existing and Supporting Trauma). She has given training all over the country on issues related to Sexual Violence, LGBTQ Communities and Anti-Black Racism including to the Ontario Ministries of the Attorney General; Labour; Status of Women; as well as the UN Committee on International Decade of People of African Descent; United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Yamikani has been featured in Macleans Magazine, The Walrus, Chatelaine Magazine, Now Toronto, CBC National and more.

Yami currently sits on the Advisory Council for MATCH International Global Fund for Women & Youth Advisory for the Equality Project at Ottawa University Law Department where she is researching Intersectionality & Bystander Intervention on Campus Universities across Canada. In her spare time, Yamikani is a yoga instructor teaching anti-racist, accessible body affirming yoga classes.

Get Involved with CTI

The Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation (CTI) is the first of Humber’s three Centres of Innovation to be housed in a stand-alone facility. The CTI is a $57 million 93,000 square foot facility at North Campus. There will be many opportunities and events for staff to participate in leading up to the grand opening on January 2019.
