Dr. Paula Gouveia Moving to Cambrian College

I would like to invite the entire Humber community to join me in congratulating Dr. Paula Gouveia on her recent appointment as Vice-President Academic at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario. It is with very mixed emotions that I announce that Paula will be leaving Humber in mid-August to pursue this wonderful and well-deserved opportunity. Paula has been a dedicated member of the Humber family for over nine years, and in that time she has had a profound impact on Humber. We are sad to see her leave us, but thrilled for her as she embarks on this new adventure.

Paula's last day at Humber will be on August 8, at which time Vera Beletzan will take on the role of Acting Dean. Vera brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role as the Associate Dean of English in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and most recently as Senior Special Advisor on Essential Skills leading Humber’s Essential Skills strategy and the development of Humber’s Institutional Learning Outcomes framework. Her past experience in this area includes a leadership role in the development of the Competencies Framework for Humber’s Co-Curricular Record. Vera will continue to lead the Institutional Learning Outcomes project during her time as Acting Dean. I want to take this opportunity to thank Vera for agreeing to take on this role during the transition phase as we work to engage the search process for the next Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the Fall.

Paula, I have truly enjoyed working with you over the last few years and will greatly miss having you as part of the Academic Leadership team. I also know that after nine years of dedicated service and numerous amazing contributions, you will be missed on many levels at Humber.

Sincerely,
Laurie Rancourt
Senior VP Academic
