Humber Partners with Walmart Canada for New AdvancED Program

Humber has entered into a strategic partnership with Walmart Canada as part of Walmart’s new AdvancED Education Assistance program.

As Walmart’s lead national postsecondary partner, Humber is building a network of Canadian postsecondary institutions to develop a cross-country program. Walmart associates will have diverse and flexible programming available online or on regional campuses across the country.

Through the AdvancED program, all Walmart full-time associates who attend an accredited Canadian college or university are eligible to receive a $2,500 tuition reimbursement per year, and an additional 20 per cent off tuition at Humber or one of their network educational partners. All permanent part-time Walmart associates and eligible family members of full-time associates are eligible to receive a 20 per cent tuition reimbursement for programs or courses taken at Humber or at a school that is part of the AdvancED network.

Collège Boréal is the first member of the network and will serve as AdvancED’s primary French language education provider.

This innovative partnership reinforces Humber’s leadership in collaborating with industry on life-long learning programs.

To help associates in selecting the right options for upskilling, Humber, Boréal and future members of the AdvancED network will provide pre-enrolment, career and academic advising services. Through Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition processes, associates may also receive course credit for their on-the-job training and experiences, reducing the time it takes for associates to complete programs.

Sarah Peake has been seconded from her role as Associate Registrar in the Office of the Registrar to be Humber’s lead on the AdvancED partnership. Sarah’s knowledge of Humber’s programs and processes, specifically for Pathways, PLAR, and Admissions, are invaluable to the program.

Sarah reports directly to Laurie Rancourt and Jason Hunter, who are the Executive supporters of the partnership. Alvina Cassiani is the Academic lead.
