Sexual Assault Awareness Month Appreciation & Contest Winners

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is held throughout the month of April. The Consent Peer Education Program (CPEP) has been participating in SAAM to spread recognition and understanding about creating a culture of consent at the North, Lakeshore and University of Guelph-Humber campuses. Throughout the month of April, several initiatives have been set up for those in the Humber community to learn about consent, ways to be a pro-social bystander, and to show their support for survivors of sexual violence.

Beginning on April 1, various office spaces in the Humber community were invited to participate in our TANTALIZINGLY TEAL, #Support4SAAM Contest. Offices were asked to decorate their spaces in teal to show support for survivors of sexual violence. There were several subcategories, such as: Men Creating Change, Voices Being Heard, Communities Supporting Survivors, and Walk a Mile In Her Shoes.

We received an overwhelming number of entries across all campuses and we would like to deeply thank everyone for participating. We are humbled to have received so many submissions that clearly demonstrate the compassion and dedication to our community members. The full list of office spaces who participated are:

  • Student Wellness & Accessibility Centre, North Campus
  • Student Wellness & Accessibility Centre, Lakeshore Campus

Two campus spaces went above the expectations of a campus partner, by decorating their spaces to reflect our vision and values as a collective, working towards ending sexual violence on our campuses.

Congratulations to the following spaces for their outstanding contributions!

Lakeshore winner: Academic and Career Success Centre

North/UofGH winner: The BASE

Again, thank you for all the outstanding community support. We hope you all can join us in fostering a safe community campus for all. We are looking forward to seeing the submissions for April 2020!

Sincerely,

The CPEP Team
