Wearing of Kirpan Policy - Request for Feedback

In 2012, Humber College launched the first-ever Wearing of Kirpan Policy within the post-secondary sector in Canada. Humber respects the rights of those who observe the Sikh religion and wear a kirpan, an article of faith, as a part of their religious beliefs. This policy outlines the College's commitment to accommodating individuals who wear the kirpan on Humber’s campuses.

Regular review of human rights-related policies and procedures ensures that we reflect current legislation changes and strengthen the Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion's human rights early intervention and resolution process.

The Centre is inviting community feedback on the revised Wearing of Kirpan Policy attached to this Communiqué message. Please forward your feedback to humanrights@humber.ca by Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion thanks you for helping to build a more inclusive Humber.
