Cyber crime continues to pose a serious risk to Humber’s ability to provide secure and reliable services to our community. Hackers are evolving and becoming more sophisticated at tricking people into clicking on fraudulent links or opening malicious attachments. This type of attack, commonly known as phishing, not only poses serious risk to Humber’s security (financial, operational, and reputational integrity), it can also impact you personally.
Because of this, Humber College has determined that security awareness training and phishing simulations are required to bolster our community’s immunity to these types of attacks. Our hope is that by providing training to our employees we can empower you as our last line of defense. Security awareness training went live in May 2020 and was initially targeted towards full-time employees but has now been expanded to include all employees.
The result of a phishing simulation this month shows that 15.1% of the targeted users fell for this attack. The industry (Education) benchmark is 27.9%.
ITS Security sent out an email to invite employees who were not previously enrolled to take part in regular security awareness training. In addition to the monthly security awareness training, we will also send out periodic phishing simulations so that you can practice the skills you learned within the training. Be on the lookout for training in your inbox from IT Security <do-not-reply@training.knowbe4.com>.
