DEEWA-­The Festival of Lights

Come out and celebrate DEEWA-­The Festival of Lights on November 14, 2015, 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Living Arts Centre, Mississauga.

“Deewa-­The Festival of Lights is a flagship cultural event for MD Foundation,” says Linda Thomas, Executive Director, MD Foundation. “Our objective is to showcase the rich diversity in Canada and Deewa is our endeavor in that direction. We are bringing together artists from all over the world to offer a true global artistic experience to the people of the region.”

This year DEEWA will feature some of the most promising South Asian Canadian Talent at the festival. This includes singers Pratik Peters and Shrija, dance groups Sanskriti Arts Ensemble and Entertainment, Shaan Punjab Dee, Nrithyakshetra Dance Academy, Afsana Dance Group, South Asian Alliance (York University) and illusionist Raman Sharma. The\ concert will be headlined by Award Winning UK R&B Artist of Kolaveri Di fame Arjun.

The day long free festival will commence at 1:00 PM offering free family activities like a kids zone with arts and crafts, henna, face painting and an opportunity to win free gifts and prizes. People coming to Deewa will also have the opportunity to get free gift bags at the MD Foundation Booth. DEEWA will also showcase latest designs in a fashion show by Satya Paul Canada.
 

Below is a brief outline of the program of the day:

1:00 PM -­ 6:00 PM -­ An afternoon of fun with free kids and family activities including: Face Painting, Henna, Balloon Artists, Arts and Crafts Zone, Magic Show, Dance performances

6:00 PM -­ 10:00 PM -­ Free evening concert featuring UK R&B Artist Arjun and leading South Asian Canadian artists.
