Humber’s Centres of Innovation (COI) Network provides the resources, technology, and expertise to support innovation. Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation


93,000 sq. ft. co-located with nine industry consortium partners in advanced manufacturing, Internet of Things (IoT), data center, automation and robotics, systems integration, rapid prototyping, 3D printing, Computerized Numerical Control machining (CNC), augmented (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (XR) and user experience testing.

Broadcast-Broadband Convergence (B2C) Lab


Multiple Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 transmitter/antenna sites for broadcast inter-tower communications network plus microwave testing equipment and a Radio Frequency (RF) anechoic test chamber supporting the design and testing of a wide range of antennas, wireless devices and prototypes for television interactivity, data delivery, Global Positioning System (GPS) augmentation, rural and remote applications.

Sustainable Microgrid and Renewable Technology (SMART) Lab


SMART Lab features sustainable digital technology including a microgrid monitoring and controller system, battery energy storage capability, distribution infrastructure, as well as generation and load simulation equipment. Devices such as the solar Smartflower, electric vehicle charging stations, and battery energy storage systems, will be used as part of the microgrid control system to generate and distribute energy locally, allowing for more efficient and sustainable use and consumption of electrical power.
