Painting | Acrylic Paint, Pencil | 18x13x1 | Original Piece | I love growing money plants in glass bottles, and this is where I thought I can exxplore my painting skills if I gather different materials with the natural element and then gradually my idea built more. I made a set up on my study table with artifical light, finally after a month I reached the outcome my soul was looking for and this painting made me more confident in myself and my creativity. | 2022 | Vishwa | Panchal | Bachelor's of Interior Design | North | 07-03-2022

Painting | Pencil, Watercolour Paint | 7.5 x 8.5 | Original Piece | This piece was actually one that I used in my Humber art portfolio application. I had to create a colour still life and thought, what better idea than to create a piece showing the materials that surrounded me in my favourite place. These were some items that I used or was surrounded by in my art classroom. This was such a safe and inspiring space for me that I spent much of my time in during high school. My teacher was always there for me and opened my eyes to art. He helped bring back my passion and love for art, and without him, I would not be here at Humber today. | 2022 | Amelia | Russo | Bachelor of Interior Design | North | 07-03-2022

Drawing | Scratchboard | Set of 3 - 11 x 14 x 1 , 14 x 11 x 1 , 11 x 14 x 1 | Original Piece | ‘Renewal’ is a three-piece series on scratchboard. They depict three vultures highlighted in white against the back background. I based this series on a poem by Jarod K Anderson entitled ‘Clergy' from his 2022 collection "Love Notes From The Hollow Tree." It talks about the cycle of life and the importance of scavengers to the environment. I also have permission from the author to display the poem alongside the artwork. | 2023 | Jasmine | Cowan | Visual and Digital Arts | Lakeshore | Faculty/Staff | 07-03-2022 | First Place

Painting | Acrylic Paint, Other | 40 x 30 x 1 | Original Piece | ‘Lost at Sea’ is a three-dimensional acrylic abstract painting based on JMW Turner’s ‘Fishermen at Sea.’ I created this painting to depict the moment after Turner’s fishermen are swallowed by the sea. It speaks to the smallness of humanity in comparison to the vastness of the natural world. |

Thought to create something that reflects back to the creative mindset that was dying to go out and explore, touch, feel, and take inspiration from the colorful natural beauty of the world, a mental state of mind bursting out into a piece of Art made with the amalgamation of applique and patchwork method with different colors in materials like fabric felt and Rexine leather giving it a dopamine effect to the viewer. | 2022 | Mehakpreet | Kaur | Business management - Entrepreneurial Enterprise | Lakeshore | 07-03-2022

Colour Photography | Digital Photography | 750px(width) x 925px(height) | Original Piece | I used to take a lot of self portraits. One fine day I got the idea to create something that could express me. I always had nightmares from which I could not escape. It has always made me stand in the darkness. Like how I am blinded by the darkness. That is what inspired me to take this self portrait. I used my bedroom as my personal studio with just a white sheet and some charcoal powder for the hands. | 2022 | Karthika Sheela | Prem | Media Communication | Lakeshore | 07-03-2022

I stopped to look at my environment, to admire its beauty, then I looked up at the sky, and I noticed how still, beautiful the clouds looked in the sky. Instantly, I knew that I had to capture the beautiful image of the clouds. This whole experience taught me the art of the beauty, stillness, what it means to be present and appreciating life for what it is the good and the bad because life itself will always be beautiful. | 2022 | Sherica | Tomlinson | Early Childhood Education | North | 07-03-2022

From looking for affordable housing to finding part-time work, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to overcome these obstacles. However, I the past few months have thought me that the key to success in this city is to let it embrace you. Embracing the city means accepting its quirks and flaws, and recognizing that there is always a way to overcome any difficulty. It means being open to new experiences and opportunities, and being willing to take risks and push yourself out of your comfort zone. |

Painting | Acrylic Paint | 20 x 16 | Original Piece | I took the reading week to tap into my spiritual feminity side. I did chakra meditation and aligned my chakras which I then decided to create a piece using colors of the universe and replicated how I felt about myself. In the artwork, a female body is laying resting in the universe with her 3rd eye open. She is relaxed and calm but yet seductive and appealing. The colour of her skin symbolizes the colour of mine as I am a woman of colour. | 2023 | Oma Davi Ashley | Panday | Bachelor of commerce International Businesa | Lakeshore | 07-03-2022

Painting | Oil Paint | 24" x 18" x 0.5" | Original Piece | A re-interpretation of Joan of Arc inspired by the controversies she had caused within the Church and the binary society at large. Painting | Acrylic Paint | - | Original Piece | As a bisexual person coming from a very conservative country I found a way to express my feelings onto a canvas. This piece of art represents how bisexual people, including me, feel about love. Each hand represents a different gender that holds a heart and supports its life. I would also say that Love is usually about two people, so there're only two hands on the painting. I tried to express light and kind feeling, because that's what Love usually makes me feel like. | 2023 | Polina | Tarabukina | Advertising and Marketing Communications | Lakeshore | 07-03-2022

Monochromatic Photography | Digital Photography | 4032 x 2268 | Original Piece | My first winter experience in Canada. I'm not a huge fan of cold weather, though I hate to complain about the same on a daily basis. No matter how chilly the weather was especially during the last week of November, I had to attend the college, and everyday I used to walk four kilometers to and fro. One day while I was going back home I couldn't resist my temptation to click the picture I've submitted. If a picture could tell a story, that picture definitely has a story or two to tell. I see a lot of melancholy in that picture. More like a dystopian world. What do you think? | 2022 | Bharat | Vyas | Theatre Production - Technical Arts | Lakeshore | 07-03-2022 |
