Diane Simpson, PhD (she/her)

Dr. Diane Simpson is the principal of the Humber International Graduate School (IGS), and the former Dean of International at Humber. She holds a PhD in Higher Education and Comparative, International and Development Education from the University of Toronto and an MSc in International Planning and Development from the University of Guelph. She also holds a post-graduate certificate in International Development from Humber and an undergraduate degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Simpson spent the early part of her career working in Africa, Central America and Asia focused on capacity development of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) through entrepreneurship and small business development.

In her current role at Humber, Dr. Simpson leads the development and operations of the IGS, Humber’s newest campus in downtown Toronto. The IGS provides international students with programming specializing in business and technology with a focus on career-readiness, mentorship, interdisciplinary projects and networking opportunities with industry in the downtown core. Through her collaborative leadership approach she works closely with faculties and departments across the institution to bring innovative programming and support to the IGS through targeted support programs, flexible study spaces and enhanced technology leading a team that puts the learner at the centre of all initiatives.
