Humber offers a specialized bridging program for internationally trained IT professionals with education and experience in computer programming and software development. This program is designed to provide participants with the advanced concepts, skills, and knowledge required to work as Software Developers. Not only will you acquire and develop technical skills, but also communication and interpersonal skills being sought after by employers in this field.
You will be supported on your journey to employment by a sector specific employment advisor as well as a job developer to ensure that you develop your soft skills and build your employer connections so that you are well positioned to secure employment in the software development tech space upon graduation.

Courses
This course is intended to give participants the necessary information to be able to design, implement and work with databases in the SQL Server environment. The course will introduce students to Transact-SQL to create tables, user views, user-defined functions and stored procedures. Database management, design considerations, backup and recovery, and other aspects of SQL Server relational databases are included.
This course is designed to give students the skills required to develop distributed systems using current architectural techniques. Students will learn the fundamental architectures found in cloud systems, common techniques for building distributed systems in the cloud, and implementation patterns for deploying them to the cloud. All techniques will be developed using .NET Core and Microsoft’s cloud, Azure. Students are required to have a working knowledge of Microsoft C#. and .NET Core.
This course will provide foundational knowledge of the C# programming language as well as provide the skills to design, program and deploy Windows Forms Application Development using Visual Studio. Participants will also learn to connect to and maintain the SQL Server Database.
This course will provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to market themselves to an employer and to effectively gain rewarding employment using career connections. Participants will also explore the structure of different organizations and the impact of organizational structure on operations and productivity from a Canadian workplace perspective. Organizational values, attitudes and ethical issues are discussed, along with the implications of a diverse workplace.
This course will be a continuation of programming with C#. In this course, students will query and manipulate data and objects using LINQ, serialize and deserialize data, store data in and retrieve data from collections and implement multithreading and asynchronous processing.
This course is an introduction to various web technologies used for designing and developing web applications. The technical aspects of responsive web application development are covered with a focus on writing valid markup and programming using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. Students will develop an understanding of writing client-side programming using JavaScript followed by migration to TypeScript. Students will also understand Web Security in OWASP context.
This course is designed to bring students up to date with the most popular web application development framework Angular with TypeScript. Angular allows developers to rapidly develop and deploy cross platform, modern, interactive web/mobile/desktop applications. This course will cover Angular fundamentals like services, modules, components, data binding, directives, etc. Using the most recent version, which includes several new features, a firm foundation in Angular programming will be developed.
Unified Assignment
Humber .NET Bridging program students will gain a ‘real-world’ development experience to help them achieve their goals of becoming employed productive members of the Canadian technical community. For this reason, the faculty team at Humber has developed and aligned course materials to create a single project that, upon finishing, students can demonstrate to potential employers.
Admission Requirements
This program is open to internationally trained professionals who:
- Are residents of Ontario
- Are Permanent Residents, Refugee Claimants, Convention Refugees or Canadian Citizens
- OR Residing in Ontario under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) measure
- Are currently unemployed or underemployed
- Have educational qualifications outside of Canada with a minimum Canadian equivalency to a Canadian degree/diploma in information technology, computer programming, software development or related
- Have previous work experience outside of Canada in the information technology, computer programming, software development or related fields
- Have a current Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment score at a minimum Level 7/8 (Consider OSLT if you do not meet this requirement)
