The Cultural Hub will allow Humber to serve wider, more diverse audiences, offer more arts and culture programming to community members and make artistic creation and performance accessible to all. With the additional capacity offered through the Cultural Hub, Humber plans to offer a new youth summer arts academy in acting, comedy and creative writing and to enhance our partnerships with community organizations, such as Lakeshore Arts and LAMP Community Health Centre. An initiative to help internationally trained media professionals find jobs in creative industries will also be enabled through the Cultural Hub, giving them access to the facilities to showcase their work and make industry connections.
By design, the Humber Cultural Hub will celebrate and support a sense of community, where everyone feels welcome and included.
The Cultural Hub will be a vital, community-building resource in a culturally underserviced area of the GTA. It will offer accessible, high-quality spaces where students, artists, creative industries and community arts organizations can create, teach, perform and exhibit their creative work. Open and inviting, the new facility will provide an educational environment that is second to none and will welcome the public to enjoy and participate in a wide variety of artistic, cultural and heritage experiences.
