Building A, where the majority of performing arts programs are currently housed, hasn’t been updated in almost 60 years. It has a significant amount of deferred maintenance along with required AODA renovations to the auditorium.
Humber College has been working with a variety of stakeholders within the City of Toronto on the development of the Humber Cultural Hub project.
In the last ten years, the student population at Lakeshore Campus has more than doubled and Humber has outgrown its existing facilities.
The Humber Cultural Hub is a four year, two-phase redevelopment of a core element of Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus located at 23rd Street and Lakeshore Blvd. West in South Etobicoke. The first phase will include the construction of a 250,200 sq. ft. building featuring a 140-seat Recital Hall used primarily for academic purposes, specialty teaching spaces for arts and cultural programs and a 300-space student residence addition. The target date to occupy the phase one building is May 2023. The second phase is scheduled to commence in August 2023 with completion in May 2025.
