Icon Format Descriptions

Step One

Determine why you need to download HLO icons and where you want them to live (e.g. web, print).

Step Two

Once you've decided where your icons will live, see which file format will be best for you:

  • JPG — Smallest file size, lowest resolution, white background, not scalable. Consider using this file format for use in PowerPoint presentations and resource lists, although not suitable for printing.
  • PNG — Bigger file size than JPG, higher resolution, with transparent background, not scalable. Consider using this file format for assignments, rubrics, and lesson plans where a transparent background is needed, and higher resolution is desired.
  • SVG — Vector-based, scalable, most suitable for web. Consider using this file format for creating scalable graphics in critical paths and lesson plans, ensuring clarity at any size.
  • EPS — Vector file, scalable, vector software needed to open files, best suitable for all printing. Consider using this file format for high-quality printed materials such as posters, event announcements, and detailed diagrams in rubrics and lesson plans.
Step Three

Download your HLO icons in the file format that makes sense for your situation.
