The following three certificate programs have been developed by the Innovative Learning team for educators. All certificates are delivered in asynchronous format and consist of 3-5 courses that range from 9-18 hours to complete.
If you are a Humber faculty member who would like to register for a certificate program, please complete the Innovative Learning IL Certificate Programs Offering Intake Form. Upon completion of the form, interested participants will receive a secure link to register themselves through the CPL website. Emails will be sent out the week prior to the course start date.
Inclusive Curricular Design Certificate
The Inclusive Curricular Design Certificate (ICDC) introduces course participants to the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, which supports the development of inclusive mindsets and strategies for facilitating and designing responsive and accessible learning experiences.
Courses include:
- ICDC 001: Fundamentals of Inclusive Design (15 hours)
- ICDC 002: Implementing UDL into Curriculum (15 hours)
- ICDC 003: Designing Accessible Digital Learning Materials (18 hours)
Culturally Inclusive Educator Certificate
The Culturally Inclusive Educator Certificate (CIEC) is designed for educators who aspire to create culturally sustaining and responsive learning experiences for adult learners. It emphasizes the importance of supporting multilingual learners, recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities that cultural and linguistic diversity brings to the educational environment. The courses within this certificate provide participants with opportunities to explore the impact of culture on learner’s identity and to critically examine current teaching and learning practices that ignore or suppress learner diversity. Course participants will acquire strategies to enhance their knowledge and skills in intercultural understanding, communication and curriculum development.

- IIE001: Intercultural Context (15 hours)
- IIE002: Intercultural Communication (15 hours)
- IIE003: Intersectional Considerations in Intercultural Education (15 hours)
- IIE004: Understanding Students in Transition (15 hours)
- IIE005: Supporting Language Acquisition (15 hours)
Teaching Effectiveness Certificate
The Teaching Effectiveness Certificate (TEC) is a foundational professional learning program designed for educators and trainers who are new to teaching in adult learning environment as well as for experienced educators and trainers seeking to revisit and reflect on the fundamentals of effectively teaching adult learners. This certificate provides essential training in key areas such as curriculum design, instructional strategies, assessment methods, and creating a community of learners. Participants who complete the certificate will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to confidently teach adult learners. The certificate consists of four courses, offering a comprehensive introduction to the core principles of adult education. Upon successful completion of the four core courses, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.

- TEC 001: Principles and Foundations of Teaching and Learning (12 hours)
- TEC 002: Planning Instruction (9 hours)
- TEC 003: Assessment and Evaluation (9 hours)
- TEC 004: Applying the Principles of Teaching and Learning (12 hours)
