Fall 2021 Plan Announcement

The following message was shared with Fall 2021 students today.

Dear students,

As we look ahead to the Fall 2021 term, I know that many of you are eager to know what the Fall term will look like and to see the delivery plans for your programs and classes. I am pleased to provide you with an update regarding the upcoming semester.

Humber is planning to have a mix of both in-person and online learning for the Fall 2021 term. We expect to offer increased access to in-person services and on-campus interactions and activities provided that public health restrictions continue to be reduced. This includes opening areas such as libraries, study spaces and athletic facilities. We will also increase building, room or area-specific occupancy limits as public health measures allow.

No matter whether your program is online or has a combination of online and in-person courses, you will have the opportunity to access campus facilities and services. And as always, we are committed to giving you the best experience possible inside and outside of the classroom.

Planning for the Fall Semester

Our plans for the Fall are based on some assumptions about the continued availability and public participation in the provincial vaccine rollout, as well as future public health guidelines and government regulations.

From the beginning of the pandemic, health and safety at Humber has been a shared responsibility. Vaccinations are one of the health and safety measures that can help reduce the risk of COVID-19. Whether learning on campus or remotely, we encourage you to get vaccinated, unless medically advised otherwise. This will help protect the Humber community now and into the future.

All courses, services and activities will be delivered with a focus on safety and according to public health and government requirements. If different protocols are put in place by public health or government officials, we will adapt our plans as necessary. We will continue to keep you updated on what you can expect for Fall and your overall Humber experience.

Fall 2021 Program and Course Information

Tremendous work has gone into preparing and adapting schedules for the fall term. We anticipate that most programs will have a mix of online and on campus delivery. A small number of programs will be offered entirely online.

Regardless of delivery mode, you will have opportunities to pursue your career and academic goals and engage meaningfully with your peers and professors using different platforms and technology.

Please find the complete list of programs, their mode of delivery and course-specific details and information here

Please note that some program/course information may be delayed as delivery for those specific areas may be dependent on information from external or affiliated parties that we may not receive until later than the dates indicated. If this is the case, we will communicate to the impacted students as soon as possible.

Placements and Work-Integrated Learning

Details regarding work-integrated learning, clinical/field placements and internships are being finalized and will be provided by your Faculty/program as they become available. Please monitor your email for more information or contact your placement advisor if you have any questions. Work study positions will continue to be posted as they become available.

Upcoming Survey – We want to Hear from You

As we prepare for the fall 2021 semester, we would like to hear your thoughts and perspectives on important issues related to campus health and safety, as well as service provision. Beginning June 10, you will receive a personalized email with the subject heading “Response Needed: Important Student Survey.” Please monitor your inbox for the survey and complete it by the requested deadline. Students who complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw for one of 10 $250 Amazon eGift Cards. Your input is valuable, and we are excited to receive it.

Student Services and Supports and Activities

There are many ways to get support and to connect with your peers and the Humber community. We are planning for student services to be offered in-person and virtually, and we expect to continue to provide high-quality student support. I encourage you to review our list of virtual student services and supports.

We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has increased financial stress for many students. We encourage students who might be experiencing financial difficulty to visit our fees and financial resources hub

Providing you a Great Experience

We continue to be committed to providing rich, career-focused education that prepares graduates for future success and to being transparent and accountable to you, always.

We know that you and your fellow students continue to live, work and study in difficult times, and we are here for you. As we say in our student commitment, we are focused on your success as students and as individuals. While things keep changing in all of our lives, what hasn’t changed are the values that shape how we teach and learn together. We will keep moving forward, focused on your future.

As more details about our return to campus become available, updates will be shared with students by direct email and on our social media channels. Our UpdatesFAQ and Return to Campus pages will continue to be updated to provide key resources and information about our current situation and what to expect when coming to campus.

Thank you for choosing Humber. I wish you all the best in your current and future studies.

Take care and be well,
