Call for Membership - Taskforce on Preventing & Responding to Sexual Violence

Humber College is seeking students, staff, and faculty to join the Taskforce on Preventing & Responding to Sexual Violence. The Taskforce will work to ensure government compliance and continue to grow existing policy, support, and awareness initiatives currently taking place on campus.

The deadline to indicate your interest is Monday, September 14, 2020 at 9 a.m.

Taskforce Mandate:

The taskforce is responsible for providing thoughtful, objective and strategic leadership to the implementation of sexual violence prevention, awareness and education initiatives, including policy development and supports.  A successful taskforce will see increased awareness and engagement that will result in improved results in the Student Voices Survey (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, 2018) over the next three years, and a culture of consent that is broadly understood and embraced by the campus community.

Taskforce main objectives include:

  1. To provide a forum to discuss local and nation-wide trends, issues, and initiatives as they relate to sexual violence prevention on college campuses.
  2. To ensure that the college is in compliance with the legislative requirements outlined by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
  3. To work collaboratively to guide and increase campus awareness efforts, initiatives and interventions that address and prevent sexual violence.

Time Commitment: Taskforce members are required to commit to, at least, two hours of in-person monthly meetings and 1-2 hours of working time per month for a minimum of one (1) academic year. Working Groups may be required to meet more frequently to complete projects.

Students: the work you do as a member of the Taskforce on Preventing & Responding to Sexual Violence can be added to your Co-Curricular Record (CCR).

What is a CCR? A CCR is a formal document that showcases skill development that has taken place outside of the classroom. It’s a great way to highlight your on-campus involvement and the skills you have acquired along the way.
