At the Centre for Innovation in Health & Wellness, we believe that an inclusive design is built by those who use and experience the spaces daily—our students. That's why we were thrilled to partner with the Humber and Guelph-Humber Library to lead a Health Design sprint that put students at the heart of imagining and shaping the future of our library.
Over the course of the Design sprint, interdisciplinary student teams worked together to redesign three key spaces in the Library. With creativity as their compass and health and wellness at the core, the student teams proposed unique, inclusive, and innovative concepts—from neutral tones to greening the spaces, fun and flexible seating arrangements, and futuristic designs that meet the needs of today's learners.
At Humber, we’re all about Building Brilliance, and this initiative was no exception. By tapping into their individual talents and skills, from interior design program to engineering, health and wellness and research programs, students collaborated with one another and shared their brilliant ideas to design new wellness spaces that connected them all.
A big shout-out to all the teams who contributed their passion and innovative thinking to this project. Your work is proof that when we think boldly, we can create learning spaces that are not only functional but also inspire well-being and creativity.
Stay tuned—we'll be inviting the Humber and Guelph-Humber community to vote for their favourite designs. Voting details coming soon!
