Last Wednesday, over 200 Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) graduates, family members and supporters gathered at the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation for the 2024 CPL Celebration of Excellence. This annual event marks the many achievements attained by CPL learners – a broad group of adult learners who have recently attained new career skills or pivoted to a new area of learning for personal or professional growth.
With a background in banking and finance, graduate Anna Muchoki shared her story of completing the Condominium Management program after moving to Canada five years ago and working as a security guard. She shared her recent success now working as a General Property Manager of twin towers in Toronto with the Humber faculty and staff team, who she credits as “very, very knowledgeable, patient and supportive."
“I want to continue to grow and learn at Humber,” she shared, alongside her family and classmates wearing their newly-minted Humber CPL lapel pins.
Dr. Gina Antonacci, senior vice-president, Academic, and Frank Cappadocia, dean of Continuous Professional Learning, spoke to the celebratory crowd and shared their personal stories of growth through lifelong learning, while many faculty and staff members showed pride in learners' accomplishments as they took in the evening to celebrate and congratulate them.
“This is a very exciting time for our learners,” shared John McNeil, associate dean, CPL at the Longo Faculty of Business. “They have learned new skills, new knowledge and have now earned a Humber credential.”
He encouraged each new graduate to put their new learning to use by embarking on a new project, initiative, or career progression. Many learners in attendance had already done so, as evidenced by the excitement in sharing rewarding new careers across industries.
We congratulate all CPL learners for their accomplishments and their commitment to growth and lifelong learning. Read some of the shoutouts posted to the Celebration of Excellence event webpage in celebration of graduates.
