In recognition of the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Final Report and Calls to Action, Indigenous Education & Engagement (IE&E) is offering a series of professional development opportunities for Humber faculty and staff during the Fall 2025 semester. These sessions continue Humber Polytechnic’s commitment to advancing Indigenous education, bringing forward the Calls to Action into our daily work in curriculum, pedagogy, and institutional practice.
Opportunities are available in both asynchronous and facilitated formats, with in-person and virtual options to meet diverse learning needs.

Indigenous Teaching & Learning Bundles: All Our Relations

All Our Relations is an introductory course centred on Indigenous worldviews, pedagogies, and the historical and contemporary realities of anti-Indigenous racism within education. Throughout the course, faculty and staff engage with Indigenous ways of Being, Knowing, Relating, and Doing, exploring how these frameworks can guide pedagogical practice, curriculum design, assessment, and campus spaces.

4 Seasons of Reconciliation

4 Seasons of Reconciliation is an introductory online course developed in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action #62, which calls on post-secondary institutions like Humber Polytechnic to integrate Indigenous knowledge into curriculum, teaching, and learning resources. The course provides foundational context for those less familiar with the histories, current realities, and themes embedded in reconciliation.
The course is user-friendly and consists of 10 short modules that can be completed at the learner’s pace and provides a mix of learning tools such as PowerPoint presentations, videos, films and quizzes.
Braiding the IWBKD Mindset into Practice: A Conversation with IE&E Academic (Virtual)

Braiding the IWBKD Mindset workshop is a two-hour facilitated session for Humber faculty and staff. The session invites reflection on how Indigenous Ways of Being, Knowing, and Doing (IWBKD) can shape curriculum, pedagogy, and learning environments. Faculty and staff will engage in dialogue about common tensions and habits that can arise when working with IWBKD and consider the questions, responsibilities, and approaches that guide this work.
The session will also highlight how IWBKD can be braided into practice across areas of teaching and learning in ways that foster accountability and transformation.

From Reflections to Words - A Workshop on Land Acknowledgments and Responsibility (In-Person)

This interactive two-hour workshop provides an opportunity for faculty and staff at Humber to reflect on and deepen their relationships with land, engage in dialogue about land acknowledgements and Indigenous place naming, and consider the responsibilities that emerge from these relationships.
The session invites participants to move from reflection to action by considering how their individual and collective practices can contribute to more intentional, accountable, and transformative approaches to reconciliation in post-secondary education.
