Laurie Rancourt, Senior Vice-President, Academic

Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning is pleased to announce that Laurie Rancourt has been appointed to the position of Senior Vice-President, Academic effective October 1, 2014.

Laurie has over ten years of experience in senior leadership positions in the Canadian Community College system. She is currently the President and CEO at Northern Lights College (NLC) in British Columbia. NLC is B.C’s Energy College, emphasizing programming that supports the Oil and Gas and evolving Clean Energy industries. At NLC, Laurie undertook a comprehensive strategic planning process. Under her leadership, the college saw increased enrolments in strategic areas and was designated by the Ministry of Advanced Education as the B.C. Center of Training Excellence in Oil & Gas. She oversaw the negotiating and management of successful local, regional, provincial and international partnerships as well as the development of strengthened relationships within the community.

Laurie also worked at College Boreal, as Vice-President, Corporate Services and before that she was the Academic Vice-President. Prior to her executive roles, she began her career at Cambrian as a professor. Then she worked at Boreal first as a faculty member and then she moved to a variety of management positions first as Coordinator of Health Sciences Program, then as Dean of Community Service Programs, then as Manager of Job Connect Offices and lastly as Registrar.

Laurie holds a Masters of Arts Integrated Studies – Work, Organization and Leadership degree and a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Science from Laurentian University. She is currently in the process of completing her Doctor of Education.

In her role as Vice-President, Academic, Laurie will be responsible for the planning, development, organizing, staffing, directing and the content and delivery of the College’s post-secondary and non-post-secondary, full and part-time academic programs and services, administration and integrity of the educational affairs of the College.
