Dear Humber community,
Peter Madott, affectionately known as ‘Madott’ will be retiring this spring 2022.
Peter began his 20 year career in the Faculty of Business as the Program Coordinator of the Marketing Management, International Marketing and -Financial Services programs. In 2006, as Associate Dean, Peter was instrumental in the development, launch and success of the Global Business Management two-year graduate certificate program. GBM (launched in 2009) has been the most successful graduate certificate program in attracting and graduating thousands of international students in a variety of industries that include banking, marketing, supply chain and more.
As Associate Dean, Peter led the development and launch of many graduate certificates that include Financial Planning, Event Management, Entrepreneurial Enterprise, Insurance Management and most recently Business Insights and Analytics. Peter also led the college-wide development of the Centre for Entrepreneurship. His passion for the entrepreneurial spirit and the need to support all Humber students in becoming entrepreneurs was clear in his execution of the New Venture Seed Fund competition. Peter loved working with students, their business plan submissions and often their dreams to think big.
Faculty and staff enjoyed working with Peter because he was sincere, thoughtful and always available to listen. He also had all the answers, either in a spreadsheet or a well-written note with dates and timelines.
We all have fond memories of Peter and his dedication to post-secondary education. For over a decade, Peter has organized and executed Humber’s Greatest High School Contest, a chance for students to honour that special high school teacher- the one who inspired all students to be their best. The contest was a career highlight for a number of high school teachers who were the recipients of the award. More importantly, Peter inspired our students, engaged our faculty and reminded all of us to celebrate great teaching.
Thank you, Peter, for over two decades of dedication to post-secondary education, we are all better faculty and staff to have known you.
Enjoy retirement, well-deserved.
