I am pleased to announce that Stephen Allen, Associate Dean, Centre for Education, Language and Professional Practice in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences, successfully defended his Doctor of Education on January 10. Stephen completed the Doctor of Education in the online education program through Athabasca University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Science.
Stephen conducted a mixed methodology research project with over six hundred Humber student participants. The study focussed on the field of networked learning theories; specifically, on the confluence of digital instructional platforms and outcomes-based education models in online courses and the extent to which they develop lifelong learning literacies indispensable to today's workplaces. The findings have the potential to help guide online instructional practice and make recommendations for online course and program design, as well as to support ongoing employee learning with industry partners.
For more information on Stephen's findings and the Doctoral program please contact him directly at stephen.allen@humber.ca.
